The Day We Got Married
So it was on the afternoon of 30th December 2003, with the blessings of their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roberto Manabat and Mr. and Mrs. Hector Gonzales, the couple sealed their love for each other. The simple
and intimate rites at the Manila Cathedral, which were attended by close friends and relatives, was officiated by Msgr. Chito
Bernardo.
Cocktails and dinner reception were held at the Coconut Palace, which was elegantly decorated by
events stylist Dorothy Cuna who outdid herself with the an imperial luau theme. The festive, Christmas ambiance came complete
with the sumptuous food served by Josiahs Catering.
A pastoral blessing by Rev. Clemente Guillermo preceded
the dinner. The bride was radiant in a gown by Mel Vergel de Dios, who also did the gowns of the entourage in light
hues of yellow and pink. Amis Print was commissioned by the couple to print their classic invitation. Patrick
Rosas did the makeup, String Minstrels provided the music and Jorge Maniquis documented the memorable wedding in photos.
The
beautiful bride was teary-eyed as she pronounced her vows while the dashing groom kept his composure but blushed a little
when his bride serenaded him with the classic Carpenters love song, "You". A touching part of the evening was when the
couple expressed their love and gratitude to their parents, who made them what they are today, and promised to apply the lessons
that they have learned from them as they face a new life together.
The evening ended with a surprise fireworks display.
